Pinehurst: The Cradle of American Golf
Itinerary
I’ve only visited Pinehurst once, and admittedly, I didn’t do it right. We planned the trip very last minute and took whatever tee times were available, which included #1, #9, #2, Tobacco Road (Tobacco Road is not affiliated with Pinehurst Resort). While the “correct” mix of courses is obviously subjective, the comments overwhelmingly recommended #2, #4, #8, and The Cradle (#10 was still under construction at the time). Knowing what I know now, the following is what I would book as a first-time visitor to Pinehurst.
Day 1
Fly into Raleigh, drive to Pinehurst, check into Carolina Hotel
Day 2
36 holes - play Pinehurst #4 & #10
Day 3
Play The Cradle, then #2
Day 4
36 Holes - play Tobacco Road, then either Mid Pines or Pine Needles
Day 5

In My Opinion:
Travel Ease: Moderate (1-2 hrs from airport)
Golf Quality: Exceptional
Budget-Friendly: No*
Beginner-Friendly: No
*excluding #2 & #10 and staying elsewhere makes this itinerary more budget friendly.
