I will not bury the lede; this is an expensive itinerary. Greens fees alone were around $3400 (June 2025), and we stayed in the best-of-the-best hotels. It’s important to me that you know that an itinerary like this is not necessary (or perhaps even recommended) to have an incredible golf trip in Scotland. (I go into this in detail in my recap video, which is linked just below the itinerary.) But it could only be my first time in this glorious country once, so we sent it.

Scotland: The Heavy Hitters

The Highlands & Fife

Day 1

Fly into Inverness in the Highlands. This is difficult if you are not connecting through London, but you can also drive from Edinburgh, drive to Dornoch, check into Dornoch Station

Day 2

36 holes - Royal Dornoch and Brora

Day 3

Play Cabot Highlands - in 2025 Old Petty wasn’t open yet, so now I’d recommend playing both Castle Stuart and Old Petty on this day.

Day 4

Check out of Dornoch Station, drive to Carnoustie, play Carnoustie, then drive to St. Andrew’s and check into Rusacks Hotel.

Day 5

Play St. Andrew’s Jubilee then explore the town St. Andrews

Day 6

Play the Old Course at St. Andrews
